TEMPERANCE
To moderate oneself in thought, action, and emotions. One of the seven virtues.TBefore Gregory the Great introduced three more virtues, there were mainly four virtues that were celebrated. These were Temperance, Fortitude, Prudence and Justice.
It was the school of Socrates that made the above mentioned virtues popular. Later on Gregory the great introduced three more which are Faith, Hope, and Love or Charity. These altogether made up the seven cardinal virtues, that are still celerated today. In The Virtues Unveiled, you will find five additional virtues, making a total of twelve. |
