PRUDENCE
To govern and discipline oneself with reason, in speech, and actions. Art should always be engaging and images should have themes behind them. Here in this drawing Prudence is trying to maintain her composure as she sits on a cloud defying gravity.
This particular figure celebrates the supernaturl and triumphant ways in which God defies the laws of nature. This kind of art was introduced in the Baroque era where they strayed from the restraints of the Renaissance period. It was said by the great Bernini that ". . .Sometimes you have to breach the rules, in order to transcend them."
