Justice from the triumph of David in The Virtues Unveiled online gallery

JUSTICE

Being impartial and exercising fair judgment, also conforming to truth.  Justice is one of the original four cardinal virtues.  Justice is part of the composition called The Trimph Of David.

After David had defeated Goliath, he used the giant's very own sword to behead him.  Goliath had challenged his opponents and only David was the one with the courage to stand up to him.  After slaying the giant, Justice was served.  The virtue Truth emanates from Justice.

Justice is shown standing with the typical classical contrapposto pose as she holds her sword.  Even though she wasn't present physically while David was doing battle, I introduce her in this scene as a virtue, and we all know that virtues are invisible and intangible.  This is my artistic way of bringing a point across using images.
